Mortgaging Our Future

The whole of climate change doctrine is largely speculative and highly uncertain. No data yet produced can give any kind of certainty to any of the predictions. I do not give any more credence to the pseudo-science of climate change propagated by secular intellectuals than I give to the end of the world cries that have come from uninspired religious zealots for centuries. Just as many false prophets have unsuccessfully predicted the end of the world—the scientific community has preached fictitious doctrine as powerfully and as often if not more so.

I would never consider betting the farm on any unsubstantiated scientific claim, for science by definition is a set of false claims that represent our best understanding of the world. I am hardly inclined to jump off the boat because the scientific community makes an outrageous claim about the global climate.

Please do what you can to inform your family, friends, and neighbors that cap and trade will literally destroy American industry and will only serve as an enormous tax, which in the midst of a recession is a recipe for disaster!

Where's Dad?

Unfortunately, not as many people are celebrating Father's Day as should be.

I heard a great illustration this week by Dr. James Dobson at Focus on the Family

"Some years ago a greeting card company decided to do something special for Mother's Day. They set up a table in a federal prison - inviting any inmate who so desired to send a free card to his mom. The lines were so long, they had to make another trip to the factory to get more cards. Due to the success of the event they decided to do the same thing on Father's Day, only this time no one came. Not one prisoner felt the need to send a card to dad, and many had no idea who their father's even were."

Society may ignore the value of fathers and also the family in general, but it cannot ignore the consequences of its neglect. Fathers are such a critical element in the makeup of our social fabric, but this fabric is being ripped and torn because of ideas and attitudes, programs and policies all of which have the end result (either directly or indirectly) of diminishing the role of a father.

We Are the Majority!

This was on Drudge today:
From a Gallup Poll: “Conservatives” Are Single-Largest Ideological Group

"Thus far in 2009, 40% of Americans interviewed in national Gallup Poll surveys describe their political views as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. This represents a slight increase for conservatism in the U.S. since 2008, returning it to a level last seen in 2004. The 21% calling themselves liberal is in line with findings throughout this decade, but is up from the 1990s."

Granted 40% is not a majority — it is double the percentage of self-identified liberals, and many who claim to be conservative are not, but it is a start.

A note on independents and moderates: They stand for nothing and any attempt to come off as unbiased and non-partisan falls short.

Many of us have friends and family who fall in this group; start talking to them, start persuading them and teaching them. We stand on the side of reason and truth so go learn how to explain these things to people and let's take our country back!

Where Has the Voice of Reason Gone?

Milton Friedman is one of my heroes; he was a great man who made a tremendous impact for good in the world. He is one man for whom we desperately need to find a successor.

A Common Error

All to common is the idea that there is only so much to go around. There's only so much money, only so much property, only so much food, a fixed amount of capital, a limited amount of resources and so forth.

Recently, I have been researching the beginnings of Social Security. A major argument for providing retirement benefits was to create incentives for workers to retire and free up space in the workplace. I could argue against this notion on many levels, but I wish to address specifically the mindset behind the argument. It is so limited and narrow-minded to believe that working people prevent others from having work — as if life were a big game of musical chairs.

The schizophrenia of the liberal mind is such that he will speak of job growth and job creation, yet he will push for policies that harm business — thus limiting job creation. If someone really wanted to solve the problems we are facing they would become friendly to business and the tax paying worker. But this unfortunately is not the desire of a power hungry politician or bureaucrat.

What we see from those who have or seek power are decisions based on popularity and control that has nothing to do with reason or principle.

Buy Now Pay Dearly Later!

This just in from the CBO's Monthly Budget Review

If I lived like this I'd be bankrupt in about 6 months! Hopefully the US government — backed by the United States tax payers — will last a little longer than that...

A City Set on a Hill

This from the World Fact Book:
United States of America — refugees (country of origin): the US admitted 62,643 refugees during FY04/05 including; 10,586 (Somalia); 8,549 (Laos); 6,666 (Russia); 6,479 (Cuba); 3,100 (Haiti); 2,136 (Iran) (2006)

I wish to make a few points about this:

First — The United States has no "internally displaced people" or IDP's, and it has no refugees in other countries. (Just a handful of people, innocent until proven guilty of course, who need to be extradited.)

Second — No other first world country takes in refugees; not one of the self-righteous finger pointing European nations appears on the list. (I don't include the Baltic states in this category.)

Third — Most of the world's almost 9 million refugees reside in bordering nations to their native land. This may be a bit controversial, but maybe if The United States wasn't home to 20 million + people who have illegally immigrated here then we would have more resources to help those who really need it most.

In the mean time why aren't the other prosperous nations of the world reaching out to the poor and downtrodden? It is probably because the European socialist governments are too busy bankrupting themselves; a practice being adopted by the current US administration. Thus the nation where capitalism has thrived for over 200 years is the one who truly helps the poor...ironic? no, that's just how freedom works!

US Military on Web 2.0!

Maybe this story will be the last AP story from the war front we will ever need to read. Sometimes we just want the news of what's going on. We don't want it filtered, truncated, cut, chopped, looped, or abridged; and we don't need it spun. This will be a real test for free speech and free press.

Many elected officials are talking about regulations on the internet and on radio; and as more and more people who tell the truth are willing to speak up, it is becoming increasingly irritating to those who are uncomfortable with the opposing view point taking root.

So we will be receiving more information directly from the battlefield via twitter, facebook, and youtube...

Now we will get the rest of the story!

Watch what happens as this plays out. Listen to how the media responds to the real information we will get through these sources. Then take some time and think about what it all means. I've said it many times before, the doctrine of the liberal is arrived at with no serious thought; conservative principles require deep thinking and pondering — activities that many are currently incapable of.
